Redevelopment potential abound around Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward stations.
Experts said redevelopment potential is ripe near the sites of Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward stations. These are part of the sixth stage of the Circle Line, to be completed in 2025.
Keppel Station will be in Keppel Road, near Keppel Distripark and Keppel Terminal, while Cantonment will be integrated with the old Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. Prince Edward will be near Palmer Road, located at one end of Shenton Way.
Only Cantonment’s site is zoned commercial. The other two are zoned as reserve sites under the Urban Redevelopment Authority Masterplan 2014, giving the authority much flexibility with usage, said Ms Christine Li, director of Singapore research at Cushman & Wakefield.
The vicinity of Keppel and Prince Edward stations are likely to see more residential and integrated residential and commercial developments, Ms Li explained.
As Cantonment will be an extension of the old railway station, possible ideas include an integrated railway mall with a focus on food and beverage. Cultural and lifestyle events could also find a venue in the historic site, she added.
