The one most common thing that landlords and tenants quarrel over? The security deposit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, if you want to avoid any problems that may arise from your security deposit, one easy fix is to rent an unfurnished unit. <\/span><\/p>\n

Now, this is relevant to everyone, not just the klutzes out there. Think about it: the longer you live in an apartment, <\/span>the greater the odds of you <\/span>eventually <\/span><\/i>breaking something. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you live in a unit for six months, you might be able to maintain a perfect track record. But if you live there for three years or so, chances are that you\u2019ll slip up at least once, and cause some sort of damage to the furniture in the apartment.<\/span><\/p>\n

#5: You pay less in rental fees<\/b><\/h3>\n

Unfurnished apartments typically go for $300 to $500 less per month. This might not seem like much, but it actually adds up to $3,600 to $6,000 per year. <\/span><\/p>\n

Assuming you\u2019re renting a condo, your rental costs probably hover around the $3,500 per month mark, so if you get an unfurnished unit, it\u2019s almost as if you\u2019re staying for free for an entire month.

Yes, you\u2019ll have to spend money on buying furniture, but if you shop from cost-effective places such as IKEA, you won\u2019t burn a big hole in your wallet. Assuming you decorate light, most tenants more than cover the cost of any furnishings by the second year. (Besides, if you’re staying temporarily, you don’t want to buy too <\/em>much furniture as you’ll move out eventually).
