Interesting retail spaces can be a great way to encourage\u00a0 sharing on social media. Here are some ways to weave design into your retail space to make it more ‘Instagram-worthy’:<\/p>\n

Walls<\/h3>\n

Redesigning your walls is one of the easiest ways to include Instagram-worthy features into your retail space.<\/p>\n

You can have a selfie wall with design elements that encourage people to take photos in front of. Aesthetic backdrops such as patterned wallpaper (marble designs are popular!) generally work well, but be sure to subtly include your logo or have the backdrop convey a brand message.<\/p>\n

You can also use neon light signs which have been rather effective in encouraging photography. However, make sure that the lights are not too bright, otherwise the images will be overexposed. Be creative with the designs and visuals: incorporate quotes, quirky messages, puns and jokes – these are very shareable and also helps flaunt the brand’s personality.<\/p>\n

You don’t always have to stick to boring old tiles. Switch up the flooring of your retail store, and see it transform the character and vibe of the space. Using striking patterns, lights, decals or even holographic flooring, you can captivate customers by creating a unique and visually appealing space.<\/p>\n

Lighting plays a very crucial role in determining how the photos will turn out. You can have impressive store designs, but unless the lighting is right, you will not get the desired Instagram-worthy shots.<\/p>\n

Natural light is best for photography; but since most retail stores won’t allow for that option, look for warm lighting instead. Don’t go for fluorescent lights; they’re harsh and unflattering to subjects.<\/p>\n

You will need to find a balance between uplights and downlights. Uplights create an ambient glow, while downlights are focused and brighter. Product Displays<\/h3>\n

The first rule when it comes to product display is to not over-clutter the display shelves; think “less is more”. Cluttered displays are messy; displaying too many products gives customers a sensory overload. Instead, be creative with your product displays, using it to encourage customers to photograph and upload them on social media platforms. Not only does this increase your brand exposure, it also makes the whole aesthetic a lot better.<\/p>\n
