In the last financial year, households receiving the Special CPF Housing Grant more than tripled, according to the latest annual report by the Housing Board (HDB). <\/span><\/p>\n

A total of 10,213 households received the grant up till March 31, 2015, up from 3,380 in the previous financial year. <\/span>In July 2013, the income ceiling for the grant was raised, and it was extended to four-room flats. <\/span><\/p>\n

Public flats have <\/span>also <\/span>been built at<\/span> a faster rate to meet demand \u2013 with more than double the number<\/span> of Build-To-Order flats<\/span> being completed in the last four years, compared to the previous four years. <\/span><\/p>\n

From 2011 to 2014, 72,218 units were built, as compared to the 29,935 units built from 2006 to 2010. <\/span><\/p>\n

Actual speed of construction might also have risen, said real estate firm Century21\u2019s chief executive officer Ku <\/span>Swee<\/span> Yong. <\/span><\/p>\n

BTO projects launched in the second half of 201<\/span>1 were completed by early 2015. <\/span>\u201cThe pace was faster than normal \u2013 just over three years,\u201d he <\/span>quipped. <\/span><\/p>\n
