While there may be few to no options for co-living in Singapore, don’t be quick to dismiss the\u00a0notion. Startups are driving a growing interest in the arrangement, according to a report in The\u00a0Business Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Co-living
Co-living is gaining popularity in the United States as it encourages collaboration and networking among millennials<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

One of them is Fintech startup XFERS, that has secured US$2.5 million in funding from investors\u00a0including Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.<\/p>\n

In addition to its office, XFERS has an apartment where employees gather to play games and have\u00a0meals. At times, they spend the night to engage in discussions and brainstorm. E-commerce\u00a0platform Shopback is another startup that is exploring co-living options.<\/p>\n

Singapore is home to more than 5,400 tech startups, according to 2014 statistics. For the\u00a0concept to work, members have to \u201ccontribute and compromise\u201d to create an ideal\u00a0environment, said Mr Darius Cheung, founder of 99.co.<\/p>\n

What is co-living?<\/h3>\n

More than just shared living quarters, co-living is a modern form of urban housing inspired by millennial-generation values: openness, collaboration, social networking and the sharing economy.<\/p>\n

\u00a0It’s usually integrated in a single building, house or apartment, where entrepreneurs, engineers, designers or artists – usually 20 and 30 somethings – practise their craft in furnished common spaces and sleep in individual bedrooms.<\/div>\n
