This period, known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.99.co\/singapore\/insider\/property-jargon-of-the-day-minimum-occupation-period-mop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minimum Occupation Period (MOP)<\/a>, usually lasts five years. A total of 20,940 units across 32 projects were completed in 2019, so we expect them to complete their MOP in 2024<\/span> or 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Please note that we\u2019ve excluded rental units. MOP?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For many homeowners, completing the five-year mark means it\u2019s time to sell the flat. It makes the flat much more desirable to buyers, who probably don\u2019t have to spend much on renovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, in November 2022, we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.99.co\/singapore\/insider\/recently-mop-ed-5-room-hdb-resale-flat-at-sembawang-sold-for-record-s745k\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that a 5-room BTO flat in Canberra that recently completed its MOP was sold for S$745,000. At that time, it was a record price for a 5-room resale flat in Sembawang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s notable about the transaction is that its price during the BTO launch ranged from S$315,000 to S$373,000.
