The number of resident households increased from <strong>1.37 million (2019)<\/strong> to <strong>1.46 million (2024)<\/strong>. As of 2024, approximately <strong>77.4%<\/strong> of residents live in HDB flats, <strong>17.7%<\/strong> in condominiums\/apartments, and <strong>4.7%<\/strong> in landed properties.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<!-- Public Housing (HDB) Growth -->\r\n<div style=\"background: #daf1fb; border-radius: 12px; padding: 20px; margin-bottom: 16px; display: flex;\">\r\n<div style=\"margin-right: 14px; font-size: 32px; color: #117db8;\">\ud83c\udfe2<\/div>\r\n<div><strong>Public Housing (HDB) Growth<\/strong><br \/>HDB committed to launching <strong>100,000 BTO flats from 2021\u20132025<\/strong>, exceeding this with approx. <strong>102,300 launched by end 2025<\/strong> (including 19,600 planned for 2025). Over <strong>25,000 new flats (BTO + Sale of Balance Flats)<\/strong> are expected in 2025 alone. The average first-timer BTO application rate has significantly improved, falling from <strong>3.7 in 2019<\/strong> to <strong>2.1 in 2024<\/strong>, indicating better supply-demand balance. All 92 pandemic-delayed BTO projects were completed by early 2025. From 2025\u20132027, HDB plans to launch over 50,000 flats, with a total of ~130,000 from 2021\u20132027.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<!-- Private Housing Development -->\r\n<div style=\"background: #e7f5fc; border-radius: 12px; padding: 20px; margin-bottom: 16px; display: flex;\">\r\n<div style=\"margin-right: 14px; font-size: 32px; color: #117db8;\">\ud83c\udfd9\ufe0f<\/div>\r\n<div><strong>Private Housing Development<\/strong><br \/>The Government Land Sales (GLS) program increased private housing supply to approx. <strong>8,505 units for 1H 2025<\/strong>, nearly <strong>60% higher<\/strong> than the 2021\u20132023 average. This includes a significant boost in Executive Condominium (EC) units (approx. 2,000 in 2025, almost double the average from 2021\u20132023). Private housing prices saw moderation in Q1 2025, with a <strong>0.8% QoQ increase<\/strong>, slowing from <strong>2.3% in Q4 2024<\/strong>.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p>Back in 2019, the URA focused on three key priorities: building more diverse and inclusive neighbourhoods, enhancing connectivity, and revitalising older parts of the city. As of February 2024, JTC had received planning clearance for eight buildings within PDD.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"border: 2px solid black; padding: 10px;\"><i>Did you know? Aside from MRT lines and existing deep tunnels, new deep caverns at Gali Batu could store construction materials. Research in this area will continue, helping Singapore use its land better.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3>3. Vertical integration of real estate<\/h3>\r\n<p>While the 2019 plan promoted mixed-use zoning (e.g. offices + retail), DMP2025 takes it further with \u201cvertical zoning\u201d which envisions entire buildings stacked with different urban functions.<\/p>\r\n<p>For example, a single high-rise might contain:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Retail and food outlets on the ground floor<\/li>\r\n<li>Co-working or light industrial labs on the middle floors<\/li>\r\n<li>Rental apartments or dormitories for workers on the upper floors<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>This allows job hubs to be embedded within residential nodes, cutting down commuting and boosting street-level vibrancy. Areas like Sungei Kadut and Jurong Innovation District are expected to pilot this form of high-intensity mixed use.<\/p>\r\n<h3>4.
