Jurong East MRT(EW24, NS1) is a major above ground interchange station that is part of the North-South line and the East-West line. It serves the Jurong residents as well as workers commuting to the Jurong industrial districts. It sees very high passenger traffic due to the opening of several shopping malls in the area, namely Westgate, JEM, Big Box and JCube. It is currently the only station with a triple island platform and may become an interchange with the Jurong Region Line is 2025.
