An interchange between the North South Line and Circle Line, Bishan MRT (NS17/CC15) is located in an established town with attractive housing and a diverse range of amenities. Several top tier schools such as Raffles Institution (Secondary and Junior College), Catholic High and the Australian International School Singapore are in the vicinity. The Ministry of Education Language Centre, allowing students to pick up a third language, is located here as well. In the near future, a new healthcare facility along with two new residential developments, Sky Habitat and Sky Vue are expected to join the current 40 odd condominiums sprawling the town. Junction 8 Shopping Centre is right outside the station while Thomson Plaza is a short distance away, providing shopping, dining and entertaining services at your fingertips. At 62 hectares, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is one of the largest and most popular parks in Singapore. Besides the usual ponds, playgrounds and lush greenery, other features include a community garden, a vantage point on a hill, and a Riverside Gallery.
Parents can choose schools such as Raffles Institution, Catholic High School, Bishan Park Secondary School, Peirce Secondary School, Guangyang Primary School to enrol their children in.
Right outside Bishan MRT, there Junction 8, a major shopping centre with retail shops and dining options available for residents.
Bishan consists of several highly rated local hawkers and cafes such as the popular Blk 284 Kway Chap where it can be a great supper place. There are also several rather popular Thai restaurants where its frequently visited by people in groups.
There are several other places such as the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park or the Bishan Active park for people to stroll and relax in, as well as other places such as the Stout Discovery Centre where citizens can get to appreciate existing artefacts that has been collected over the years in its exhibit galleries.
