Co-working spaces have taken Singapore by storm and revolutionised the way we work (here’s one with a sky garden in the CBD, and here’s one in Katong for creatives) — be it to meet the increasing number of start-ups in the local scene or to accommodate the flexi working arrangements of today’s gig economy. Co-working spaces cater to companies and individuals with different needs; the spaces can range from sleek and sophisticated to casual and cozy.

So if you’ve been on the hunt for a place to work, here are four suggestions that have caught our eye!

Justco

Those of you who’ve hopped around from one co-working space to another would probably recognize the name JustCo, which arrived on our shores in 2015 and has since extended its reach to four locations. Well, make that six — it’s got two more coming up at Marina One’s West Tower in May and Marina Square in July.

The latter is set to become the company’s largest co-working space on a single floor, taking up 60,000 sq ft of the usually-quiet mall. At the casual setting, you’ll find an in-house cafe, game corners for a round of table tennis, seminar rooms, a nursing room, and a showcase area for members to display their products to the public. Naturally, this space seeks to attract creatives and retail businesses.

#03-304 to 327, #03-332 to 345 Marina Square. From $98/month.

Paperwork

Aimed at design entrepreneurs, this “co-creation space” by design collective Paperspace is its third in the region, following locations in Manila and Bangkok. Its concept is multi-functional, so expect to see furniture, art, and design brands from around the globe on display, alongside a quarterly rotation of artworks managed by FOST Gallery.

Spread across 3,500 sq ft, the stylish office can also easily switch up its look with movable partitioning and modular furniture, so you know things will never get boring around here. Facilities include lockers, a pantry, meeting areas, standing desks, soundproof telephone booths, and an event space that can fit up to 40 people.

Paperwork is at #03-01 National Design Centre, 111 Middle Rd. From $40/day; from $400/month.

The Carrot Patch

Touted as the first collaborative working space dedicated to artificial intelligence in Singapore, the 8,000 sq ft space devotes itself to tech start-ups, with hot desks, work areas, private offices, a lounge, and a nicely-stocked pantry. It’s not the fanciest place, but it’s casual enough for freelancers to feel comfortable in not-so-formal wear.

Besides office facilities like meeting rooms and lockers, this co-working space also offers members access to the rooftop, which houses a pool, a sauna, a gym, and barbecue pits for rent. Workshops, house parties, and networking events are also put up occasionally on the calendar for the community to enhance their skills and do a little mingling.

#02-09 Apex @ Henderson, 201 Henderson Rd. $25/day, $220/month.

The Great Room

After The Great Room’s first location opened at One George Street in 2016, this swanky co-working space for enterprising professionals has found a second home in the CBD, with 36,000 sq ft spread over two floors that boast pretty damn fine views of the Marina Bay area.

The co-working space is nothing if not polished and sophisticated, with a hotel-esque reception area called The Drawing Room that houses the bar and cafe, and a Club Lounge for Business Club members. Of course, you can also expect to find different-sized meeting rooms, hot desks, and hot offices, alongside private phone booths, complimentary coffee and tea, and weekly networking events for the social butterflies among us.

L18 Centennial Tower, 3 Temasek Ave. $70/day, offices from $750/month; Business Club members $380/month, with a minimum commitment of 12 months.
