That’s a hand drawn sign we have of our new startup, stuck on our wall now.

Had to do it for a newspaper article photo, and we don’t have a logo picked yet, much less a printed banner.

But here it is, stuck on our wall, and we have just decided that this is what we will frame up on the front lawn at 99plex, hopefully a few years down the road.

Naturally, 5 minutes later, everyone dismisses that frivolous thought and were back heads down in doing their stuff — coders code, marketers market.

It’s good to have dreams, of the impacts you would make, the scale at which you will be able to change the world, the grand things you could achieve.

But, it is also as much about being in the moment, and simply enjoying what you do. Startups are like taking a steep corner on a motorbike — you can’t look too near, you won’t be able to estimate the curve well enough and will over compensate (a common mistake for beginners); but you can’t look too far either.

Instead, look just far ahead enough to know the whole curvature, and trust your brain, your body, and your machine to process that.

It’s a joy when you bank that curve perfectly, and it’s probably a good 50% of the reason to be in a startup.
