Certain pieces of furniture are never to be thrown away to the landfill or recycled. Every home has a hidden gem and sometimes, you just need a little reminder of which furniture piece is a keeper. Not all furniture is, but certain items can always be repurposed and reused.
With a little sprucing up, these items can serve an entirely different purpose and can be moved around to suit any room, as well as the indoors and the outdoors. Remember, what you now consider trash might actually be your biggest treasure!
Small Side Tables

Small side tables are usually found by you’re the side of your bed, but they can also serve a variety of purposes. You can turn them into small stools with the help of cushions, side tables for your master bathroom next to the bathtub or tables for your living room or patio. Think in terms of unexpected materials that can give your old side table a complete transformation.
Shelves

Shelves can always be moved around and added to other pieces of furniture to transform them into something entirely different while creating a new purpose as well. No matter how beat up they are, they can be either repainted to give an antique touch or sized down to fit an entirely new setting. They can also be used in pretty much any room, turned into a bookcase, or shoe storage, or even inserted into your wardrobe cabinets to reorganize your clutter in it.
Cabinets

Cabinets are often mistaken to have just one purpose when they can be placed in so many different rooms with different uses, and all we need is just a little sprinkle of imagination.
Never throw away the old looking cabinets because they are typically a gold-mine of both material and serving a variety of purposes. Turn them into linen cabinets, store your valuable porcelain in it or section it into parts and repurpose it into shelves, bookcases or wardrobe cabinets!
Dressers

A forgotten, old dresser doesn’t necessarily have to go down the path of recycling. They have a certain charm you can’t buy with money. But if you’re tired of looking at it, then roll up your sleeves, turn your imagination on and do some work. With an easy repainting into a colour that matches another room, it can look like a completely new piece of furniture. We’ve even seen dressers with added marble counter tops that serve as authentic kitchen islands.
With a little magic help from someone who restores furniture, you can transform an old dresser into a bathroom vanity!
Chairs

Remember how your dining room chairs were once the focal point of your dining area? All new and sparkly? But once they wear off, you’re inclined to throw them away. But, think twice about this.
Chairs can be repurposed in other rooms like the office, serve as rustic furniture on your patio or even as décor such as a flower planter. Cut the legs or shorten them, and you’ll have a cute little stool to put in your living room when there is more than expected company. Or perhaps place them next to your bed as side-tables and here’s another idea, why not turn it into a swing for your little ones?
Sofa

The living room is one of the most frequently edited spaces, because it’s the space where most of the time is spent and furniture wears out quickly. But if there is one furniture sin to avoid, is to toss out old sofas when you think they are done and through. There is always something you can make out of your favourite old sofa, by reupholstering it, dressing it up with pillows or simply changing rooms. Or take it apart and use the mattresses for repurposing your side table?
