5 affordable CCR condos for rent

6 min read

Renting in Singapore is fast becoming the norm as more turn to leasing amidst the pandemic-induced construction delays. More young professionals are also looking to move out of their family homes for more space and privacy as they spend more days working from home.

Singapore has 28 districts and is separated into three main regions: Core Central Region (CCR), Rest of Central Region (RCR) and Outside Central Region (OCR).

CCR: 9, 10 and 11, and parts of 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7
RCR: 3, 8 and 12, and parts of 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 13, 14, 15 and 20
OCR: 16 to 19, 21 to 28, and parts of 5, 14, 15 and 20

In the past five years, rental prices for private condos have shot up at least 16%, with the CCR units leading the way at 25.33%.

If we zoom in on the 2 and 3 bedders, the rental appreciation isn’t as steep, but it is still considerably more expensive than five years ago.

At the time of writing, here are the numbers for 2-bedder and 3-bedder condo rental prices.

Location Average price (S$) psf Average rent of 2-bedder Average rent of 3-bedder Total volume
CCR 4.05 S$4,280 S$5,971 15,172
RCR 3.44 S$3,161 S$4,175 17,698
OCR 2.86 S$2,570 S$3,188 22,293

As expected, the further away you get from the city centre, the more options become available at affordable prices.

But fret not. We’ve done a deep dive into five CCR condos you can rent without breaking the bank.
