You’ve just moved in to your new place and everything looks great, right down to the scented candles positioned at just the right angle on your coffee table. With the festive season fast approaching, this calls for a Christmas get-together! Check out our list of fun ideas that you can incorporate into your Christmas party held in your new home.
#1: Themed Party

You could either get all dressed up and fancy – think Great Gatsby, Black and White, and Burlesque – or embrace the Christmas spirit and do something tacky and fun like Ugly Christmas Sweaters. No matter which you choose, make sure you have your camera and tripod (or a selfie stick will do in a pinch!) on hand so that you can capture shots of the entire group.

If you want to up the ante even more, set up a photobooth complete with fun props for your guests to use! There are several vendors that you can choose from including Snap It, Aww Snap, and Hello Stranger, or if you’re organizing your party on a budget, here’s a DIY version that you can set up on your own.
To get your guests truly invested in your theme, make sure you have prizes planned for the Best Dressed – guests can vote on whom they think deserves the title, and you can have the top 3 finalists strut their stuff on a makeshift catwalk before crowning the winner!
#2: DIY Christmas Drinks Station

(Credits)
Are you of the opinion that Christmas isn’t Christmas without a few drinks? We hear you! Set up a DIY drink station in your home where guests can make their own Christmas-themed drinks such as eggnog, mulled wine cocktails, or peppermint hot chocolate for the teetotallers.
To avoid costs from running too high, get your friends to contribute the booze. Depending on how many people you’re inviting, that might be an additional bottle (or two) of alcohol. A single trip to the supermarket is all it takes to stock up on your other ingredients such as eggs, milk, cream, nutmeg – and that’s it, you’re all set!
#3: Karaoke night

(Credits)
Those Christmas songs that you hear on repeat everywhere you go? You know what they say – if you can’t beat them, join them! Why not hold a karaoke session at home where you can belt out Michael Buble and Mariah Carey to your heart’s content?

You don’t need to buy a whole karaoke machine – just get a karaoke DVD set and play it on your DVD player, and get a few microphones that you can hook up to it. For a budget option, have a powerbank on standby and download karaoke apps on your phone to sing with – one of our favourites, Sing! Karaoke by Smule, even lets you challenge other singers and sing with them. Fun times for sure!
#4: Movie marathon

(Credits)
Not musically inclined? Opt for a good old Christmas movie marathon instead – put on your comfiest sleepwear, order in some pizza, microwave a few bowls of popcorn and get ready for a night of non-stop pigging out on the couch.
Here are some of our favourite Christmas movies that you should definitely include on your list: Love Actually, Elf, The Polar Express, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Family Stone, and The Holiday!
#5: Christmas Warrior

(Credits)
This is sort of like Ninja Warrior but without the physical aspect of it – instead of trying to complete an insane obstacle course, try your hand at the various challenges that have taken the internet by storm! If you’re organizing a party with a close-knit group of friends that you’ve known forever (and been through various thick and thin with), this is perfect for you. Try the classic Chubby Bunny for a start, and watch Youtube videos for more ideas.
Inspired and ready to plan your perfect Christmas party? Have fun!
