Good Friday 2018 is just around the corner! If you don’t have anything planned (and nope, binge-watching Netflix at home does not count), check out these 5 mini-vacays which you can take this long weekend. You don’t even need to board a plane to get to these locations!
#1: Batam

Batam is just a stone’s throw away (or to be specific, a 40 to 50 minute ferry ride away). If you’re after some R&R, have a mojito by the beach or treat yourself to a massage or two. If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, there are plenty of watersports to try!
#2: Bintan

Similar to Batam, Bintan offers a lot in the way of adrenaline-inciting activities. We’re talking cable wakeboarding, riding on a seaplane, and plenty more to do this Good Friday weekend. Depending on where exactly in Bintan is your destination, your ferry ride will take approximately 1-2 hours.
#3: Desaru

Who says there’s nothing to do in JB other than cafe-hop? Just an hour-long drive from the city centre is Desaru, where you can find the most pristine beaches. Also check out the floating Bujang Seafood Restaurant. We recommend going on their Firefly Cruise if you have the time!
#4: Pulau Ubin

If you want to reconnect with nature this Good Friday weekend, a great way of doing so is camping overnight at Pulau Ubin. Make sure you’ve got your essentials packed, and bring along your guitar or ukulele to enjoy a quintessential campfire cookout.
PS: Before heading down to Jelutong (Pulau Ubin’s camping site), make sure you drop by the Pulau Ubin Police Post to register your stay.
#5: St John’s Island

Have a picnic by the beach, explore the mangroves, and then stay overnight at one of St John’s holiday bungalows. You’ll return to Singapore feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on whatever challenges life throws at you!

I’ve been to both Batam and Bintan a couple times and personally I prefer Batam. I think its a more authentic experience. I have stayed at Harris Resort which I really liked other than once I got bed bug bites, but that was only once and a problem that they were able to rectify.
I found the staff really friendly and would still happily recommend them.
