If you need a pair of new kicks but don’t have much cash to spare, skip right past the glitzy malls located along the Orchard Road belt. You’ll have much better luck at Queensway Shopping Centre, otherwise known as THE place to go for discounted sports shoes.
A disclaimer: you won’t be able to find the latest shoe models here, because they carry stocks from previous seasons. But hey, who’s complaining when you’re getting 60 percent off?

After you’re done with Queensway Shopping Centre, head down to Anchorpoint which houses a plethora of outlet shops including Billabong, Hush Puppies, Pedro, Charles and Keith, G2000, and Cotton On and Typo – all offering discounts of 50 percent and above. If this isn’t a shopaholic’s dream come true, we don’t know what is!

This charming estate features several blocks of colonial walk-up apartments and semi-detached houses which were occupied by British officers and soldiers back in the 1940s.
These old colonial buildings have since been repurposed as studio space and art galleries for local artists. There’s also an ex-Army canteen and mess hall which is now a bar that serves up a wide variety of British pub fare and local dishes.

If you’re the sort of person who will take a robust, substantial meal over fine-dining any day, The Carvery will be right up your alley. Indulge in their meat buffet for a free flow of premium roasts such as house aged beef rib, pork knuckle, and rotisserie chicken. If that’s not enough, they also have a salad bar, a pasta and pizza counter, and a dessert counter.
This is the kind of meal that’s highly likely to result in you being unable to even look at food for the next 24 hours – but in the best possible way!

Ah, coffee. Too much of it and we start straight up shaking, too little of it and we can’t even function. If you’re a coffee addict, you’ll love Tiong Hoe Specialty Coffee, a cafe that serves coffee made from their own freshly-roasted beans, and hopes to set a benchmark for coffee in Singapore.
Mr Tiong Hoe, the founder of Tiong Hoe Trading Co, started honing his knowledge of coffee and his craft of brewing coffee since he was 16 – so that’s a whopping 58 years of expertise. If you chance upon him in the cafe, why not take the chance to pick his brain?
