It feels like 2017 has barely started – but in a blink of an eye, the March school holidays are already upon us. Not sure what to do with your kids now that they’re out of school, bored, and demanding to be entertained? Check out our list of activities and events that will keep them occupied!

#1: Rock climbing, archery, basketball, and more

It’s important to get your kids to cultivate good exercise habits during their formative years – and you can do so with the wide variety of activities offered by ActiveSG. Singaporean citizens and permanent residents who sign up as ActiveSG members are entitled to 30 percent off March school holidays programmes for their little ones – check out the full range of activities offered here!

#2: Art vacation workshops

Unleash your child’s creativity at the fun art vacation workshops conducted by Art Boot Camp. From activities that cater to kids from as young as 18 months old, and in-depth programmes about colour theory and drawing techniques that will engage older children, Art Boot Camp has it all!

#3: Discover art around your neighbourhood

Arts In Your Neighbourhood is a programme that aims to make the arts more accessible, and bring the arts to your very own neighbourhood. We’re talking about musical performances, movie screenings, and even pop-up play spaces where you can build your ideal play environment using recycled materials. For the full line-up of events, check out their events schedule here.

#4: i Light Marina Bay

i Light Marina Bay, Asia’s leading sustainable light art festival, is back! The art festival, which explores the relationship between light, nature and the city, houses over 20 light installations as well as several child-friendly workshops and exhibits. In particular, be sure to make a beeline for the inflatable Art-Zoo playground, and also check out the Adventure With Dad Urban Camp!

i Light Marina Bay runs from 3rd to 26th March.

#5: Gameshow-style holiday camp

It’s a fine line between getting your child to engage in some light revision before the upcoming school term, and load them with so many educational activities that you stress them out.

One way to get around this? Look for educational programmes with a twist, such as classes which focus on engaging children through interactive activities. Take this gameshow-style holiday camp for example, conducted by the language experts at KidStartNow!

KidStartNow’s gameshow-style holiday camp runs from 15th March to 17th March.

#6: Singapore Festival of Fun

The Singapore Festival of Fun consists of the Nickelodeon Festival on 11th and 12th March, as well as the Street Fest from 14th to 19th March. Your child is bound to have a whale of a time meeting his or her favourite characters such as Spongebob Squarepants, trying their hand at classic carnival games, and participating in fun and exciting treasure hunts.

#7: Kidzania Singapore

Kidzania describes itself as “an interactive indoor theme park combining inspiration, fun and learning through realistic role-play for children aged 4 to 17”.

How does it work? They’ve constructed a 81,000 square feet kid-sized city in which you can let your kids loose. They can explore the city, complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles and a functioning economy where they’ll get to learn about different careers, the basics of how a city works, as well as how to manage money.

Kidzania is open daily; tickets can be purchased online.

The March school holidays are a great time for your kids to get in some R&R, but they can be a stressful time for parents, especially if you can’t find anyone to babysit whilst you’re going house hunting! If you happen to find yourself in this situation, check out our guide to entertaining your kids whilst you’re house hunting.
