Why Bedok North is a good place to rent

3 min read

Still looking for the rental unit of your dreams? If you don’t quite fancy parting with three quarters of your monthly paycheck to stay in the heart of the CBD, and you’re looking for a more suburban neighbourhood, we’ve got just the place for you. Bedok North! Read on to find out what makes Bedok North such a great neighbourhood to live in.

#1: Accessibility

Bedok is an old estate which is well-built up with plenty of amenities, but until recently, those who didn’t stay in the immediate vicinity of Bedok MRT had to rely on feeder buses to bring them to the MRT station.

With the recent opening of Bedok North MRT, though, those who are renting units further from Bedok MRT Station can enjoy greater accessibility and shorter commute times.

#2: Affordable rental units

Condominiums nearby Bedok North include Vacanza @ East, Archipelago, Escada View, Astor, Levenue and more. You can get a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit in this area for $3,000 or under – how’s that for a steal?

#3: Smorgasbord of food

You won’t need to venture too far out of Bedok North to be greeted with a smorgasbord of good food, including…

South Union Park

Address: 101 Jalan Kembangan, Singapore 419139

If you’re in the mood for good, hearty fare, head straight to South Union Park. For a little above 20 bucks, you can get their best-selling Duck Confit Tagliatelle; if you’re not in the mood for pasta, we hear that the Braised Chicken Leg with potato purée and carrots is equally good. Don’t forget dessert – order the Hazelnut Chocolate Semifreddo (pictured) to end your meal on a sweet note!

Khan Saab

Can’t fall asleep because you’re feeling peckish? Make your way down to Khan Saab, which is open 24 hours to cater to the night owls in Bedok! If you want a full-on meal, go for their mee goreng or briyani; if you’re simply peckish, a kosong prata should do the trick.

Address: 55 Chai Chee Drive, Singapore 460055

Refuel Cafe

There are few things in life more decadent than sleeping in on the weekends, then catching up with your crew over a delicious brunch. And just so you know, no one does brunch quite like Refuel Cafe. You’ll find it hard to choose between their Pesto Scramble (pictured), Pancake Stack, Full Tank, and other brunch options – bring as many friends as possible, so that you can share!

Address: Block 744 Bedok Reservoir Road, #01-3029, 470744

#4: Bedok Reservoir

There are tons of amenities within Bedok, but what we’re most excited about is Bedok Reservoir (which is a lot nearer to Bedok North MRT station than Bedok MRT station). The 88 hectare reservoir used to be a sand quarry, but today, it’s a one-stop destination for water sports enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies alike.

Forget jogging – at Bedok Reservoir, you can go kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, dragon boating, abseiling, sea rafting, and more (check out rental rates for the various activities here). In addition, you can also try your hand at rope adventure courses from Forest Adventure. Slots are available on a first come first serve basis, so if you’re heading down on a weekend (when things get busy), be sure to make a reservation!v
