5 Budget-Friendly Condos for Student Rentals in 2019

4 min read

Looking for a condominium that’s located near your university in Singapore?

In this blog post, we round up a few budget-friendly condos that are in the vicinity of NUS, NTU, and SUTD. (Yes, SMU is absent from this list – that’s because its campus is in town, and it’s pretty difficult to get affordable accommodation nearby the school).

Read on to find out more!

For students in NUS:

#1: Murano

District: D5

Nearest MRT: Haw Par Villa

Rent price: $2,200

PSF rent price: $3.46

If you’re a student in NUS, and looking for a home away from home, check out this one bedroom apartment at Murano.

The unit comes fully furnished, and you get access to all the standard condo facilities including a swimming pool, gym, BBQ pits and more. You’ve even got your very own patio, which will come in handy for when you have friends over!

#2: Jubilee Residence

District: D5

Nearest MRT: Haw Par Villa

Rent price: $2,200

PSF rent price: $2.92

Jubilee Residence is actually just down the road from Murano, so regardless of which of these condominiums you choose to stay in, your commute to NUS will take the same amount of time.

Like Murano, Jubilee Residence comes with the standard bells and whistles including a pool and gym. That said, it’s a smaller development (with just 19 units in the entire condo!), so you’ll be sharing your facilities with fewer neighbours.

For students in NTU:

#3: The Floravale

District: D22

Nearest MRT: Pioneer, Boon Lay

Rent price: $2,800

PSF rent price: $2.11

Now, this unit at The Floravale might seem a tad pricey compared to the other condo units we’ve seen so far – but that’s because this is actually a three beds, three baths apartment.

Here, we’ll do the math: if you get two apartment mates to bunk in and split the bill, you’ll pay only $933 per month. That’s pretty affordable, if you ask us!

Good to note: The Floravale offers a complimentary shuttle bus service to Boon Lay MRT, and this particular apartment is a corner unit, giving you more privacy. If you’re studying in NTU and looking for cheap accommodation in the area, we’d say that this unit is a great option!

#4: Westwood Residences

District: D22

Nearest MRT: Pioneer, Boon Lay

Rent price: $2,800

PSF rent price: $2.71

Westwood Residences is located just three minutes away from The Floravale, and it also offers a free shuttle bus for residents, so both condominiums fare equally when it comes to location and accessibility.

So, what’s different about this three-bedder unit at Westwood Residences? First, it comes with a small balcony, and it’s located on a high floor. On top of that, the entire apartment is fully air-conditioned, which might be a nice perk if you’re from a cold country (and unaccustomed to the unforgiving heat in Singapore).

For students in SUTD:

#5: Tropicana Condominium

District: D16

Nearest MRT: Upper Changi

Rent price: $3,300

PSF rent price: $1.87

Thinking of saving on your rent by staying with roommates, but still want your own space? Check out this spacious duplex unit at Tropicana Condominium which comes with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The unit is only partially furnished, which means you’ll have to make a trip to IKEA, but the kitchen has recently been renovated and comes with a new hob and hood.

Psst: Tropicana Condominium is just a two minute walk from Upper Changi MRT, and it’s also close to Eastpoint Mall.
