Summary

Seletar Aerospace Park is an industrial park in Singapore catering to the aerospace industry. Located in Seletar, the S$60 million plan to develop 140 hectares of land adjacent to Seletar Airport will further strengthen Singapore's position as an aviation hub. Despite its once extensive range of bungalows for the Royal Air Force’s military personnel, the area has never really been known as a residential estate. There are currently plans underway to transform Seletar into one of Singapore's regional centres, of which the Aerospace Park will be its prime landmark (and for good reason too!).

Summary

Seletar Aerospace Park is the embodiment of Singapore’s commitment to the future of the aerospace industry. The 320-hectare park will host an integrated cluster of activities, namely maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft and components, manufacturing and assembly of aircraft engines and parts, as well as research and development. Seletar Airport is also an integral part of the Seletar Aerospace Park, providing the connectivity and backbone infrastructure to support the growth of the Park. As one of the four subzones in the Seletar Planning Area, the Seletar Aerospace Park seems slated to see more development in the coming years as Seletar undergoes its transformation. For now, the Park itself is its own classy little village of food, beauty and entertainment choices while its proximity to surrounding up-and-coming neighbourhoods like Sengkang and Yishun, provides housing options and accessibility to amenities beyond Seletar's borders.

Seletar Aerospace Park - Stay

Bungalows at Seletar Aerospace Park area

The area once housed an extensive range of bungalows for the Royal Air Force’s military personnel. However, Seletar today lacks residential spaces and many often do not consider settling down in the area. Fortunately, Seletar is flanked by a range of other popular precincts, almost all of which contain established or growing residential spaces. Seletar’s proximity to both Sengkang and Punggol make them both ideal locations for housing outside of Seletar. Equally nearby is Yishun, one of Singapore’s oldest and most developed housing estates. With a range of housing options from condominiums to standard HDB apartments, Yishun is the ideal go-to for residential needs in the area.

Seletar Aerospace Park - Eat & Drink

If nothing else, Seletar Aerospace Park's The Oval has gained a reputation for being a chic lifestyle enclave. The Seletar Mall

Seletar also holds other unconventional shopping experiences. Pay a nostalgic visit to Swee Leong Eggs Distributor, where you can buy eggs in bulk and wholesale. The purchasing model is free and easy, and you can choose your egg sizes, as well as how many cartons you would like to bring home. You'll be eating nothing but eggs for the next couple of days!

Flower bouquet from Poppy Flora Studio

Other than egg shopping, you have to check out Poppy Flora Studio. The shop specialises in flower arrangements that thrive in standalone elegance. Create your very own arrangement or purchase a ready-made bouquet, and if any of the potted plants outside catches your eye, try your luck and see if it is on sale.

Seletar Aerospace Park - Play

For parents wondering where to bring young children for a fun day out, you can make a trip to Seletar Aerospace Park's aeroplane-themed playground where your little ones will have a blast. This wonderful playground right outside Wheeler's Estate comprises two play areas suitable for toddlers and older children, featuring air traffic control tower slides, a colourful propeller plane play structure, a helipad merry-go-round, and swings with bucket seats for younger children. Situated right next to Seletar Airport, it's clear where this playground takes its inspiration from. When the kids have exhausted themselves, relax as a family on the open, grassy lawns surrounding Seletar Aerospace Park at day's end.

For couples especially, taking an exploratory stroll down the lanes of conserved bungalows in the park is a great post-dinner activity. Once home to the British Royal Air Force, these bungalows are now run-down and awaiting redevelopment - it's fascinating to picture the stories these houses tell.

Plane-spotting at the park is also a must-do here. The vast Seletar Airspace lies right within reach, where the long parallel boardwalk, both stroller and wheelchair-friendly, makes for a lovely stroll as the vast runway occasionally sends off a plane or two. At sunset, pack some food for a little picnic by one of the benches along the walkway - they're shaped like little origami paper aeroplanes!

Close by is AquaBambinos @ Piccadilly, which is a swimming school with heated pools for children. On top of that, Chatsworth Preschool Piccadilly is also in the vicinity. You may have to venture into nearby neighbourhoods for schools like Sengkang Green Primary School, Pei Hwa Secondary School, Nan Chiau High School, and more.

Seletar Aerospace Park - Parks and Gardens

You might have noticed that much of the Seletar neighbourhood is dedicated to the aerospace industry. But it does not compromise the lush greenery of the area, especially within the Seletar Aerospace Park. It's equal parts developed and left untouched to the hands of nature; explore the undulating, tree-lined paths in the park.

 Lower Seletar Reservoir Park

Outside of the Seletar Aerospace Park, 99.co turns your attention to the surrounding parks in the area, each every bit worth the travel out. Lower Seletar Reservoir Park is a peaceful, beautiful spot to be one with nature. Rower's Bay Park, at the heart of this park, is beloved by kayakers and dragon-boaters, and potentially by you too, if you manage to catch a glimpse of the sunset from Rower's Bay.

The wetlands surrounding the boardwalk is home to the myriad of native wildlife in the area. Make sure to bring your binoculars and look out for birds, monitor lizards and other wildlife you might be lucky enough to spot. Those keen to get wet can spend a day on a leisurely paddle in the reservoir while soaking up some sun.

Hampstead Wetlands Park

Just stone's throw away from Seletar Aerospace Park playground is the newly opened Hampstead Wetlands Park. This former marshland area now has a garden and a pond with observation decks for birdwatching and nature photography. The 3.23-hectare park is a green sanctuary and a beautiful place for rest and recreation.
