Khatib is a subzone at Yishun estate. The area is served by Khatib MRT stations, several HDB neighborhood shopping centres, community hubs, the Wisteria Mall, a number of educational institutions like Peiying Primary School and Safari House Preschool, and many other public amenities. As for the housing options, condominium developments are as plenty as HDB blocks. One of the popular developments in the area is The Wisteria. Shop - Khatib

Getting daily necessities will not be a problem because there is Khatib Central which is accessible for every resident. It is located close to the MRT station. Another neighbourhood mall is the Yishun Mall, with a wide variety of shops and eating outlets serving the needs of residents and visitors.

If you are looking for more, there is also the Wisteria Mall nearby. As the only heartland mall in the southern part of a mature Yishun estate, it is poised to attract crowds with its great mix of dining and service establishments, including a supermarket and food court.

Broadway Food Centre at Khatib Central is the place to go when you are in need of delicious dishes or tasteful cups of coffee. Though the stretch has been officially named Yishun Mall, residents still affectionately refer to this open-aired marketplace as Broadway—after the Broadway hawker chain that sits by the entrance. While the coffeehouse offers some interesting eats such as a cai png store that specialises in porridge and a pretty decent Char Grill Bar outlet, the star of the show has to be Pin Cha. The old-school milk tea vendor—the kind we used to visit after school for cheap snacks and drinks — still sells pretty darn good milk teas for just $1.

Learn - Khatib

Khatib neighbourhood has numerous facilities when it comes to preschool education. Parents can choose from A-list preschools such as My First Skool, Apple Tree, Safari House Preschool, and Jollytots Preschool. As for the primary level, there is Peiying Primary School. Play - Khatib

After 10 pm, there are a few activities that do not rely solely on the consumption of alcohol, and one of them is freshwater prawning at Khatib’s 24-hour leisure facility, ORTO. For $20 an hour, catch as many prawns as you can for your very own seafood fiesta on the grills provided. For the same price, you may also opt to fish for crabs instead.

A sanctuary for nature lovers, ORTO is a 555,000 square-foot lush greenery (about the size of 7 football fields) located in the northern part of Singapore. It is the country’s first multi-recreational park that is open to the public 24 hours a day, catering to all-day and night activities such as prawning. Move - Khatib

Khatib MRT station is an above-ground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North-South Line (NSL) in Yishun, Singapore. The station is located at the junction of Yishun Ring Road and Yishun Avenue 2, and is one of the two stations that currently serves Yishun New Town; the other is Yishun station. The section of tracks between this station and Yio Chu Kang station is the longest between any two stations on the MRT network.

Parks and Gardens - Khatib

Rockridge Park @ Yishun can be an option when you are looking for a little greenery. But the real star of the neighbourhood is Lower Seletar Reservoir Park. Once part of the Sungei Seletar Reservoir, the Lower Seletar Reservoir is now a serene park found by glistening turquoise waters. Come alone or with friends and enjoy a scenic workout route that wraps around the reservoir and eventually leads to a jetty that overlooks the horizon. 

Calm and peaceful with turquoise waters and balmy breezes, the Lower Seletar Reservoir Park is a pleasant place for leisure activities, both on land and in water. Featuring a Family Bay with a new performance stage, a water play area, a bioswale rain garden, as well as a Heritage Bridge, there’s something for everyone.

Fitness enthusiasts regularly gather at the park for long, leisurely, strolls or jogs. A fishing jetty, maintained by PUB, extends from the park into the reservoir, catering to avid anglers who cast their rods in hopes of hooking large snakeheads and tilapias swimming in the waters. Benches along the edge of the reservoir provide a great view of the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings.

The park is also a popular venue for kayaking and dragon-boating at the Lower Seletar Water Sports Centre. Spend a day leisurely paddling down the beautiful waters of the reservoir while admiring the beauty of the surroundings. Alternatively, visit the Active, Beautiful and Clean (ABC) Waters Learning Trail to learn more about the Lower Seletar Reservoir Park.

Sports Facilities - Khatib

The Yishun Stadium and the Yishun Sports Hall are just a 5-minutes’ walk from Khatib Central. Being a part of Yishun Sports Centre, the facilities are located at one of the satellite centres. The sports hall and stadium consists of an 8-lane running track, 1 and 2 pitch long jump sand pits, a fitness corner, and a shot put throwing area outside the stadium. The second satellite of the Yishun Sports Centre is the swimming complex, and it is located approximately 2 kilometres away from the first one.
