What is a nominee?
The CPF Nomination Scheme allows Central Provident Fund (CPF) members to designate nominees who will receive their CPF savings upon their demise. In the context of the scheme, a nominee is an individual or organisation chosen by the CPF member to receive the savings.
By nominating, individuals can ensure that their CPF savings are allocated to their chosen nominees per their desired instructions. They must choose the individuals they wish to nominate and determine the percentage of their savings each nominee should receive.
This process allows individuals to control the distribution of their CPF savings and ensures that their wishes are followed after their demise.
Who can be a nominee?
You can nominate:
- Individuals of any age or nationality
- An organisation.
If you nominate someone who is not a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, you must include the nominee’s complete name, foreign identification number, and mailing address in your nomination form.
This information will enable the CPF Board to promptly contact the nominee to distribute your savings.
How do I make a nomination?
- To nominate online, you will require the following:
- Your Singpass login credentials
- The NRIC or Foreign Identification Number (FIN), mailing address, and email address of your nominees
- The NRIC or FIN, mailing address, email address, and Singapore-registered mobile phone number of the two witnesses
In case you are unable to find witnesses for your online nomination, you have the option to visit the ServiceSG Centres. The officers at these centres can serve as witnesses for your online nomination.
- When choosing to nominate in person, you must:
- Make an appointment at least one working day before visiting the designated location.
- Bring along your NRIC or passport and photocopies of the identification documents belonging to your nominees.
- Complete the CPF nomination form in the presence of two witnesses. If needed, the Customer Service Executives will be available to act as witnesses for your nomination process.
