Real estate agency examination

What is the real estate agency examination?

The Real Estate Agency (REA) examination is required for individuals aspiring to assume the roles of Key Executive Officer (KEO), Practising Director, or Practising Partner within a real estate agency.

Successful completion of the REA examination, or a comparable exam, is necessary to qualify for these positions.

When will I know my real estate agency examination results?

After taking the REA examination, candidates will receive an email notifying them of their examination results from CEA’s appointed examination administrator, which typically takes about 4 to 6 weeks after the examination.

Can I appeal for my real estate agency examination results?

If a candidate wants to request a review of their REA exam results, they have to submit an appeal form to the CEA’s examination administrator within five working days of receiving their notification.

A non-refundable fee of S$64.20 (inclusive of GST) must be paid for each appeal to cover the cost of reviewing and re-checking the answer scripts.

Candidates will receive a written response from the administrator about the appeal outcome approximately 14 working days after the appeal closing date. The timeline may be longer if there are many appeals.

How long are my real estate agency examination results valid?

All individuals taking the REA course must pass the REA examination within 2 years from the issuance date of their REA course completion certificate.

Candidates who partially pass the REA examination must pass the remaining papers within the same 2-year timeframe. If they fail to do so, their partial pass will become invalid, and they will need to retake the entire REA course and examination.

Once a candidate passes the REA examination, they will receive the REA examination certificate. If they want to take up the role of Key Executive Officer (KEO), Practising Director, or Practising Partner of an estate agent, they must submit their application through the estate agent within 2 years from the month they pass the examination. Otherwise, the examination results will not be valid for such purposes.

Upon the expiry of the REA examination result, the candidate must retake the REA course and the REA examination.
