Estate agent licence

What is an estate agent licence?

To legally perform estate agency work through a traditional or digital platform, an entity must obtain an estate agent (EA) licence. The application for the licence must be made by the Key Executive Officer (KEO) applicant, who is responsible for managing the EA’s business and supervising its salespeople.

The KEO applicant must complete the application form online through CEA’s e-services and submit it to the agency.

How to check if my property agent is licensed?

All estate agents must have a licence number registered with CEA. You can check this by visiting the Public Register or downloading the CEA@SG mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

You can search for your agent using their name, contact information, or CEA registration number.

The Public Register provides the following details:

  • Name of the agent
  • Photograph of the agent
  • CEA registration number of the agent
  • Registration period of the agent
  • Any past disciplinary actions taken against the agent
  • Awards received by the agent
  • The estate agency the agent belongs to
  • Licence number of the estate agent

Can estate agents practise without a licence?

Under the Estate Agents Act, unlicensed property agencies can be fined up to S$75,000 and face imprisonment for up to three years. Unregistered property agents can be fined up to S$25,000 or imprisoned for up to one year.
