Here at 99.co, nothing gets us pumped up more than helping someone find a home—that is, except when we manage to help two someones at once!
Meet Jann Wong and Wei Leen, a couple who recently moved into their new home in Everton Park after finding it on 99.co:
What’s special about your neighbourhood?
We’ve lived in Everton Park for three years, and we love this neighbourhood. When we started looking for a new apartment, we knew that we wanted to continue living in this area.
It’s bit of a Mecca for hipsters, and there are several really good cafes here, but the best one is this little coffee roaster called Nylon Coffee. It doesn’t have cakes or other drinks or any of the typical amenities of a cafe. It just brews coffee, but the coffee is really, really good.
One of our favourite things to do is to just grab a cuppa from Nylon Coffee, then walk around the neighbourhood while enjoying our coffee slowly.
How would you describe your new home?
We found a new apartment through 99.co, and it’s special and amazing in many ways.
The owner has made several small but thoughtful changes. For example, the place feels very spacious due to the placement of mirrors, and very quiet and peaceful thanks to sound-proof windows. He’s also built an extra bathroom, and one of the bathrooms has shower-heads that provide a nice mini water jet massage.
We’ve also converted one of the rooms into a study room of sorts. We’re really happy with our new home.
What would your dream home be like?
It’d have to be something that we design on our own.
As it is, most properties are designed to maximize profit rather than to optimize living experience. For example, the side of the building facing the sun would consist of a thick wall (i.e. a Trombe Wall) which absorbs heat from the sun during the day, while all of the other walls can be thinner.
This would help to regulate heat and conserve energy in the building, but most properties aren’t designed with such meticulous considerations. We’d also give it high ceilings, a portable stove, and lots of running space for dogs.
