Most of us have harboured dreams of living like a rockstar. Right now, those with sufficient funds — or in one case at least, the readily available cryptocurrency — have several chances to do just that, having a rockstar home, at the very least!
Celebrity home #1: Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Flea

On the US West Coast, guitar hero Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers is selling a six-acre modernist compound in the La Crescenta hills above Los Angeles. Asking US$9.8 million (SG$13.3 million), this futuristic rockstar crib features not one but two houses, plus a separate log cabin serving as guest accommodation.

The first of the two main houses was designed in the 1950s by famed midcentury modern architect, Richard Neutra, as a home for his PA and her husband, while the other is an avant-garde, angular addition erected in 2009 by noted contemporary architect, Michael Maltzan. Could be in the running for one of the fanciest luxury homes of famous musicians!
Celebrity home 2: Calvin Harris

Should a two-house property sound insufficient, consider instead superstar DJ / producer / artist Calvin Harris’s Beverly Hills home, encompassing 10 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms spread across five separate structures (visible in the main image at top of this article).

On the market for US$25 million (SG$34 million), the 2.7-acre compound features such celeb essentials as a fully equipped standalone gym, recording studio / guesthouse, security building with housing for a permanent bodyguard, five-car garage, cinema, plus a swimming pool, outdoor entertaining and barbecue areas, and vast gardens.

In the image above you’ll see dozens of bottles of exclusive sipping tequila Don Julio 1942 lining the shelf behind the bar in the home’s expansive living space. An insider tells us that Harris — the world’s highest-paid DJ — requests this pricey liquor on his ‘rider’ at nightclub gigs and generally takes the bottle home to add to his collection, despite being a teetotaler.

Celebrity home 3: Linkin Park’s Brad Delson
Elsewhere in LA, Linkin Park’s lead guitarist Brad Delson is selling a quaintly sitcom-style 5,000 sq ft house in The Summit, a celeb-filled gated community behind Beverly Hills, for US$6.8 million (reduced from an initial asking of US$8 million).
Or, for the more modest price of US$3.5 million, you could acquire a chic 3,200 sq ft house in hipsterish Silver Lake, owned by OneRepublic bassist Brent Kurtzle and previously occupied by actress Laura Harrier (as showcased in this Architectural Digest shoot).
Celebrity home 4: Kiss’ Gene Simmons

Roughly four hours’ drive from LA in Las Vegas, Kiss axeman Gene Simmons’ modernist desert residence is on the market for US$13.5 million. The house features six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and garage space for a fleet of 11 cars. Costumed rocker Simmons says he’ll happily accept payment for the pad in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polkadot, Litecoin, Aave, Try, Litecoin, Uniswap or a combination thereof.
Simmons, who describes himself as an outspoken proponent of crypto, told an interviewer, “It is the future of money, and it just makes sense to offer interested parties the option of using cryptocurrency to purchase the estate.” Another competitor for the one of the best luxury homes of famous musicians!

If the East Coast is more your speed, in New York, chart-topping 1980s rocker Jon Bon Jovi’s West Village condominium is currently listed for US$22 million (SG$29.9 million). The 4,000 sq ft, four-bedroom home boasts a state-of-the-art kitchen and a generous living room spanning 40 by 18 feet, making it ideal for entertaining. With floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, the property offers amazing views of the New York skyline, ensuring the new resident will feel they’re sitting on top of the world — or at the very least, livin’ on a prayer.
Whichever of these rockstar homes you may choose, you’ll need some suitably cool art to fill the walls. Let me entertain you with the thought of procuring one of the original Bansky artworks British troubadour Robbie Williams is auctioning through Sotheby’s on 2 March — Girl with Balloon from 2002, and Vandalised Oils (Choppers) and Kissing Coppers from 2005.

Williams purchased the works for song (if you’ll pardon the pun) when new — in the early ’00s, Banksy artworks could be had for low four-figure sums. It’s predicted the three paintings will fetch a total in excess of £10 million (SG$18.2 million) when they go under the hammer on Wednesday, 2 March. Appreciation of 1,000x over 15 years? Now, that’s what we call hot property.
