We may have been in the new year, but I think we can all agree to forget any New Year resolutions or #newyearnewme aspirations you might’ve made. Wishful thinking aside, here are some practical ways you can actually make your life easier — and all you have to do is download a bunch of these apps.
From free access to newspapers to no-queue CBD lunches, this list of local apps comes in rather handy to help you lead a relatively fuss-free life.
ClassPass

If you’re the type of person that doesn’t want to be tied to a single gym membership, then ClassPass is for you. The app allows you to book fitness classes, wellness sessions and beauty services with a single monthly membership. Each plan comes with a certain number of credits, allowing you to choose whichever classes and sessions you want.
What’s more, you’re not limited to just classes and sessions in Singapore. With the app having a presence in over 2,500 cities across 28 countries, this means you can still hit the gym (or go for a massage) while travelling!
NLB app
The app allows you to borrow e-books and audiobooks, allowing you to read and listen to them anytime and anywhere. With over 900,000 copies available, there’s something for everyone. And you don’t have to worry about forgetting to return them or overdue payments, as e-books and audiobooks are automatically returned after 21 days.
Besides e-books and audiobooks, you can also get free access to over 7,000 e-newspapers and e-magazines. This includes international titles such as The Washington Post, Bloomberg Businessweek, and local media publications like The Straits Times. (Psst, yes, you can bypass the paywall to read premium articles with the NLB app).
WhyQ

This app helps you to buy your lunch at hawker centres and deliver it to you, so you won’t even have to step out of your air-conditioned nest at all.
So feel free to order everything from Hokkien mee and chicken rice to nasi lemak and claypot laksa from out of the 2,500 hawker stalls on the platform. Also, take heart that a minimum order isn’t required here, and delivery fees are kept low at S$1.50.
Burpple Beyond

Everyone loves a good dining deal, even more so if it’s 1-for-1 deals. With Burpple Beyond, you don’t have to scour the internet to search for the best dining deals. Get access to over 2,400 1-for-1 deals at over 600 restaurants through the app.
There are two membership plans to choose from, with the Lite plan at S$49 a year allowing you to enjoy two deals per restaurant.
Anywheel

Many bike-sharing apps may have come and gone, but one that’s still available here is Anywheel. Like other bike-sharing apps, Anywheel allows you to find a bike and ride it anytime, anywhere you want to go around the island.
Simply download the app to search for the nearest bike to ride. And once you’ve reached your destination, you can park it at the nearest designated parking area.
Dine Inn

Fancy home-cooked meals, but are too lazy to cook one yourself? Dine Inn allows you to connect with hosts who prepare various kinds of home-cooked dishes. Through the app, you can either order the food to be delivered or for self-collection.
But if you’re looking for a more intimate culinary experience, you can also hire a chef through the platform or even dine at the host’s place.
Google Pay

The app may be known for its contactless payment wallet, but it can do more than that. One of its main features is that it allows you to easily split bills, send and receive money between your family and friends. It even helps you calculate who owes what — a perfect tool to figure out who hasn’t been returning your money.
Another feature that we love? It helps you earn cashback. And the best part? You can use it right away.
Urban Company

If the annual spring cleaning and decluttering before CNY stresses you out, consider engaging a cleaning service through Urban Company. The platform provides various home services such as laundry, ironing clothes and dishwashing.
Or if you want to get a haircut before CNY, but don’t want to queue at the salon (which is bound to be more crowded these days), you can book a haircut at home instead.
LumiHealth

If you need a nudge to lead a healthier lifestyle, this app might just be for you. Whether it’s going to the gym, eating healthier or sleeping better, LumiHealth helps you achieve your health goals. Based on the goals set and your Apple Watch activities, the app creates challenges just for you.
For each milestone you reach, the app rewards you with coins that you can exchange for up to S$380 worth of vouchers. This also means that sleeping more can help you earn vouchers too!
GetGo

If you’ve always wanted to drive in Singapore, but find that owning a car is just too expensive, here’s your next best option. Simply download the app, register an account and start driving.
What’s more, the good thing about GetGo is that you don’t need to pay any deposit and membership fees. The petrol is included too, so all you have to pay is the hours and mileage used.
RydePet

Have any pets? Ryde is one of the private-hire apps you should have on your phone. It’s one of the private-hires here that offers pet-friendly transport service.
Just tap on the RydePet icon on the app to book a ride with your pet. Take note that there’s a maximum of two medium-sized pets or one large-sized pet on board. So if you’ve got three maltese, you can only take two of them with you on each ride.
99.co
This is a 99.co blog after all, so of course we’re including our app on our list. As a property portal, our app allows you to search for properties for sale and rent and shortlist them, all while you’re on the go.
But that’s not all. You can also use our in-app calculator to calculate things like your affordability, mortgage, stamp duties (updated with the latest rates) and even the progressive payment scheme. So whichever stage of the property journey you’re at, here’s one app to make your property buying process easier.
