Starting next month, about 900,000 eligible households will receive rebates in Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC). Good news for many HDB dwellers indeed:
The new S&CC rebates were announced in Budget 2019. They will offset between 1.5 to 3.5 months of S&CC for selected households. According to the Ministry of Finance (MOF), a total of $132 million will be disbursed for this in 2019.
Eligible Singaporean households will receive a letter in a few weeks time. This will include the details of the rebates they will receive. We understand that no action is required by the home owners; the process of reducing the charges is automatic.
As a general guideline, here are the monthly rebates for different HDB flat types:
Those living in one-and two-room flats will get one month’s rebate in April, July and October this year This is reduced to half a month’s rebate in January 2020.
Those in three-and four-room flats can expect a one-month rebate in April, and half a month’s rebate in July and October. There will also be half a month’s rebate in January 2020.
Families in five-room flats will get half a month’s rebate on all four months.
Those in Executive Condominiums (ECs) and multi-generation flats will receive half a month’s rebate in April, July and October.
